scramblit battered fish & chips


INGREDIENTS
  • 1 Block of Firm Tofu (Organic preferred)

  • 1 Sheet of Nori

  • 1 Lemon (optional)

  • ½ cup Flour of your choice

  • ½ cup Corn Flour (Organic preferred)

  • ½ cup Soda Water/Sparkling Water

  • ¼ cup Spero Scramblit

  • Oil of your choice

This batter can be used for both real fish or for a tofu fish and chips alternative. This recipe will cover how to make the a tofu fish and chips and how to make and apply the batter to any option.


How to Prepare the Tofu:

Using a paper or cloth towel, press out extra water from the tofu block. Slice block into ¼ inch slices such that you end up with about 4 tofu slabs roughly the size of the palm of your hand.

Cut nori sheet so that it can fit on each tofu piece. Sprinkle a dash or two of lemon on the top surface, if

desired.


How to Prepare the Batter:

In a mixing bowl, add flour and corn flour. Stir well. Add both the water and the Spero Scramblit and whisk well to ensure there are no chunks remaining. Batter should be smooth and slightly runny.

Heat a pan with oil.

Place fish or tofu fish into batter and emmerse each side in batter, so that each side is fully covered.

Fry battered fish or tofu fish in the pan. Let each side fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden-brown in color.

Place finished fish on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.

Sprinkle with a dash of lemon or white vinegar and a dash of salt.
